First Look: Urban Decay - Oz The Great And Powerful Palette (Theodora)

Hi Beautiful People. Here's a quick look at Urban Decay's brand new palette based on the upcoming Disney film, Oz The Great And Powerful. There are two of these palettes: Glinda, a collection of soft pinks and purples and Theodora, a group of neutrals and greens. Today I have the latter for you, so hold on to your seats!

Theodora, played by Mila Kunis in the movie, wears soft, chocolatey shades that complement her dark features. I also loved the pop of green included in the palette as well as a bright red lip color, 24/7 black Glide On pencil and full-sized mirror.

The Theodora palette consists of 6 brand new shadows, including 2 duo-shades - so you really end up with 8 brand new, completely wearable shades! Each shadow comes in a removable pan, so you can transfer them to another Urban Decay palette or swap in other shadows that you want for a specific look or for travel. Brilliant!
Just for one second, lets embrace this packaging! The palette is made of a sturdy tin material and covered in the most captivating print and gold-embossed text. The lid opens smoothly to reveal the shadows and mirror.

I mean really, even if I hated the shadows, I would still want to stare at that lid all day!

Now for these shadows. The palette has a warm, earthy theme and is filled with beautiful neutrals that have a smooth, creamy texture that Urban Decay is known for.

From left to right, top to bottom the shades are:

Broken: A light, creamy off-white (satin)
Beware: A soft, medium brown (matte)
Bewitch: A dark, brown-taupe (satin)
West: A deep brown with a purple undertone and gold flecks (satin)
Spell: Duo-Shade with a sparkly black with gold glitter and yellow gold with gold glitter (frost)
Jealous: Duo-Shade with a forest green and lime green (satin)

The palette also comes with Urban Decay's famous 24/7 Glide On Eye Pencil in Zero, which is a creamy, long-lasting black liner.

We also get a bright red Super-Saturated High Gloss Lip Color in Theodora. Its an opaque chubby stick and is as the name implies, super glossy.

Also included is an instructional guide of one way to wear the shadows.

In the look above, I used Broken on the brow bone, a combination of West and Bewitch on the lid and black from Spell on the outer corner. I used the gold in Spell on the inner corner and this one falls out quite a bit so it didn't show up too well.

I used Beware as a blending color and this matches my skin pretty accurately.

For the lower lashline, I used the lighter shade from Jealous in the inner 1/3, the darker green on the middle third and West on the outer third. I lined both the upper and lower lashline with the 24/7 Glide On pencil. This is not the most pigmented liner I've used but it applies just fine and the lasting power is amazing (ie. difficult to remove)

Then I used the included Super Saturated High Gloss lip color on the lips.

This palette is available online for $49. It releases in stores (Sephora and Ulta) from Friday (2/1), I believe.

Bottomline: I am loving this palette so far. The colors are just so beautiful and wearable for a neutral, everyday look to a deep smoky eye. I like that there is a matte brown to blend with, and pops of color with the greens and gold. The quality of each shadow is great. They are all super pigmented, feel buttery smooth and blend really easily.

Spell has a bit of fallout, however, so that is a disappointment - but as a whole I am impressed with the palette.

The packaging is attractive, compact and very convenient. The removable pans make customization and traveling a breeze.

The added bonuses of the lip color and eye pencil are really practical and actually something I can use to create a look. Thank you for not including another brush. (haha)

This is an early review, but as of now, I rate the Theodora palette 4.5 out of 5

Thanks so much for reading.

Do you plan on getting anything from this collection?
