Going Crazy for Coral (Lips)

During fall and winter, the big trend was deep plum or red lips. Now the trend seems to be changing to a brighter hue - Coral! I have to say, I am quite excited about this because coral can be such a flattering color on many skin tones and its a welcomed variation from the dark and nude shades of the colder months.

Yes, I know its still winter but a girl needs some bright color in her life!

I've chosen some really accessible shades of the coral/orange/red range that you can find in the drugstore.

Lets talk a true coral. Maybelline keeps the good stuff coming with a new line called Vivids which includes a number of bright, vibrant shades. Vibrant Mandarin is a beautiful coral with the perfect balance of peachy and orangey tones. It is very creamy and moisturizing but also quite pigmented. This tube retails for about $7-8 in drugstores.

Wet N Wild's Purty Persimmon is more of a truer orange-based shade that I've been loving lately. As with other MegaLast lipsticks from Wet N Wild, this shade is matte and super pigmented and long-lasting. Make sure to moisturize the lips before applying these MegaLast lipsticks because they can be a little dry. I don't mind this because it helps it last longer.

Lastly, I've got one more from Wet N Wild called Red Velvet, which is an orangey-red with a hint of pink. I think this will be very wearable for those who want a statement lip but shy away from a true red hue. Similar to the shade above, it is matte and has impressive lasting power. Wet N Wild lipsticks retail for $1.99 in drugstores.

What's your favorite Coral to wear?

  1. LOVE that Wet n Wild shade! Definitely going to look into it. Also, I'm so glad the trends are changing toward a brighter lip, the plums can get a bit dreary after a while. x
