Maybelline Vivids: A Review + Swatch

If you've read more than 2 of my posts here, I'm sure you would know that I am a huge lover of bright colors on the lips. I probably wear a bright lip about 85% of the time, so it should be no surprise that when Maybelline recently came out with a collection exclusively of bright lipsticks called The Vivids, I would be all over it!

Of the 10 shades, I picked up 5 of them and I gotta say, these are pretty awesome! If you love bright colors, these are definitely for you.

Each shade is creamy and highly pigmented and lasts about 4 or 5 hours on the lips. It feels much like a lip butter but with better pigmentation.

The swatches above show Neon Red, Vibrant Mandarin, Shocking Coral, Fuchsia Flash and Brazen Berry. Below are photos of each shade on my lips.

Neon Red: An orange-based red.

Vibrant Mandarin: A peach-based orange.

Shocking Coral: A pinky-peach.

Fuchsia Flash: An electric pink.

 Brazen Berry: A pinky-plum.

The packaging is very similar to the Color Sensational Lipsticks but they all are capped with a bright orange, translucent plastic cover. I personally find it misleading because it makes it difficult to see exactly which color is in the tube unless you open it or look at the label. It would be helpful even if only the top was clear so that you could see the color of the tube, but what can 'ya do?

Each lipstick from this line retails for $7.49 at drugstores.

Bottomline: I am in love with these lipsticks! They are bright, beautiful and perfect for the upcoming spring and summer months and oh so moisturizing. The pigmentation is great and the lasting power is pretty good for such a creamy formula. I don't like the packaging but thats just a small issue.

Overall, I give these Vivids a 4.5 out of 5.

Thanks so much for reading.
